Community Acupuncture, Explained
Community acupuncture means acupuncture given to several people in one shared room, on a sliding scale, with shorter visits than a private session. On this site, a clinic gets the Community Acupuncture label only when it confirms all three.

How It Works
You are treated in a room with other people instead of a private room. Visits are shorter than a private session. Each clinic sets its own routine, so read the clinic's own wording on its page here before you go.
Why It Can Cost Less
Treating several people in the same room lets one practitioner see more people per hour. Community clinics post a sliding scale: you pick a price within the posted range. The clinic pages here show each range exactly as posted.
Where The Term Comes From
The People's Organization of Community Acupuncture (POCA) is a member-run nonprofit whose stated mission is to increase access to affordable group acupuncture. POCA runs a clinic finder on its site.
How We Label It
We use the Community Acupuncture label only when the clinic confirms a shared room, a sliding scale and shorter visits. A clinic with a sliding scale but private rooms gets the Sliding Scale label instead.

Common Questions
How much does community acupuncture cost?
It depends on the clinic's posted sliding scale. Each clinic page here shows the exact range and when we checked it.
Is community acupuncture private?
No. Treatment happens in a shared room. If you want a private room, look for clinics without the Community label.
Do I need to prove my income for a sliding scale?
That depends on the clinic. Check the clinic's own wording, or call and ask.
